The San Jose Wavemasters RC Club supports Bay Area students who are engaged in understanding aeronautics, plus designing, building and flying RC aircraft.
Members have supported elementary and high school students by donating simple wooden gliders to their teachers, for exploring the basic physics of flight.
We also have members who volunteer at the Wings of History Air Museum in San Martin, California.
On March 11, 2025, SJWM flight crews hosted the U.C. Berkeley SAE AERO Club for their first student-built RC craft test flight. SJWM President Rick Maida performed the first test flight of their RC craft at the SCCMAS Tomcats field in Morgan Hill, California. We are happy to report that the first test flight and landing, were successful.
(Our SJWM President Rick Maida also performed the first RC craft pontoon test flight for CAL Poly students, earlier this year.)
